Checking in! - 2004/11/21 19:30 Hi folks,
I was just checking in, as I do from time to time, and noticed some recent activity for a change!
After we were all affected by the recent Serif 'shutdown' I think the suggestion of this being a 'back-up' forum is totally valid. Maybe a small notice to that effect, on the Serif Forum, would show that there is still some life left over here. It may just attract some users who want to spout off to a different audience! Who knows?
Anyway, I'll be checking in more often, now that I know I'm not alone.

Re: Checking in! - 2005/01/03 20:45 James, have you noticed when the Serif Forum goes down for more than a few moments the numbers of viewers snooping around here goes up. I guess they are coming over here to see if they can find out what's up.

Or perhaps they are seeing how many rounds of Mambo Invaders they can get in before the Forum comes back online.

Happy New Year to everybody - Will.

Re: Checking in! - 2005/01/04 08:22 Y'know, Will, I've played quite a few rounds of Smack the Penguin and Orca Slap, but I haven't played Mambo Invaders much (if at all). Go on – make us all green with envy by posting your highest score here!

Happy New Year.

Re: Checking in! - 2005/01/04 10:45 Alfred,

32,500 is my best, as the Rogues record is over twice that it isn't really something to shout about. The best scores can be viewed from the opening screen of the game so anyone can take a look without having to play.

As I disposed of a large chunk of my disposable income in the early 80s' (or was it late 70s'?) playing space invaders in pubs I still have a soft spot for them. I recon Mambo invaders is one of the better webpage ones. As I never became good at the game, I think that is why I am now so poor, the Mambo version is good because is lets one build up big impressive sounding scores, but each game can go on for a looong time.

My best smack of a penguin it 319.3, but I am not sure I should mention that - both the score and admiting to smacking penguins online.

Will

PS: Scores set with a four buttoned trackball, results may not be comparable.

Best Invaders that I have ever played is from a disc that was bundled with a Serif SomethingPlus upgrade a couple of years ago, if they ever offer it to you and you like Invaders, take it.

Re: Checking in! - 2005/01/04 12:20 Hiya all'
good to see people over here at last.
I must confess to enjoying a penguin slap sometimes but haven't tried the invaders. Never was much of a one for games.

Anyway, Happy new year to all.

Re: Checking in! - 2005/01/04 13:01 Well...I can always tell when the forum's down!

Don't know if any of you saw my Christmas card there, but you're all in it! Too bad there are so many distractions these days! And now, regulars at each others' throats.

Anyway...I will be moving this site to a different server over the coming weekend and will be upgrading and going with a new design as well. Want to start out fresh with the new year. I also will be changing to a different forum software, so will lose the volume of posts we have now.

If any of you want to start woking on some articles, the site could really use some new content. Just simple tutorials or "my come to Serif" stories...anything you think users of this site might be interested in reading. Its intended to be a community site, so contributions are most welcome!

Glad to see you here...I hope all had a joyous Christmas and the very best to you in the New Year!
